We produced a 4-day feature about the French region known as PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur).

A 3,000 km journey from Spain, travelling at night, to show you a little of the Provençal essence.

It was two and a half intense days in areas where the "kilometre zero" experience takes centre stage.

We also began our challenge of travelling along the historic Route Bleue, the legendary French holiday route, and we share road tips and advice on how to plan and enjoy a holiday in this region, which will not disappoint you.

We based ourselves in the small town of Venelles, very close to Aix-en-Provence.

Tips and facts

Tolls in France: approximately €60.

Fuel prices: approximately 15% higher than in Spain.

Last fuel stop: La Jonquera, on the French border. In addition to petrol stations, you will find plenty of restaurants and shopping options.

Electric mobility: along the A9, there are several electric vehicle charging points at the rest areas (see article).

Travel time: allow 4–5 days for the trip, although tourists arriving by cruise ship in Marseille sometimes make day trips to this area.

If you prefer to split the journey to Venelles over two days, you can spend the night in Perpignan or Nîmes.
You can also come by plane, arriving at Marseille Airport and renting a car.
