We took a day trip to Puerto Banús with the goal of meeting Silvina, a lifelong friend and professional travel agent, who made a short detour from her tour in Morocco to Málaga so that we could spend a wonderful day together.
We parked near Plaza Antonio Banderas, where an Artisan Market takes place from June 1st to August 31st (unfortunately, we arrived too late), and then enjoyed a walk along the seaside promenade, located about 200 meters from the underground parking area.
The weather was pleasant, and we were pleasantly surprised by the cosmopolitan atmosphere, the mix of cultures, and the wide variety of dining options. Seafood restaurants, stylish cafés, casual eateries, and small spots for a quick drink all coexist harmoniously.
For lunch, we chose La Bocana, a restaurant located right by the sea with a privileged view of the harbor. From there, you can watch the constant activity of the boats entering and leaving through the marina's breakwater.
Our goal was simple: to enjoy the flavors of the sea, and the experience exceeded our expectations. We ordered Galician-style octopus (exceptionally tender), a traditional Malagan fried seafood platter, and a delicious seafood paella. To drink, we enjoyed Tinto de Verano, water, and Italian coffee.
We were fortunate enough to find a table on the terrace, literally at the water's edge.
The atmosphere was relaxed, and the service provided by the staff was excellent. Prices were very reasonable for the area (around €35 per person), offering outstanding value for money.
One of the things that surprises visitors to Puerto Banús is the large number of luxury fashion boutiques and high-end accessory stores. At the same time, you can also find outlet shops and casual stores offering clothing at very attractive prices.
If you're a car enthusiast, Puerto Banús feels like an open-air exhibition. You'll see an incredible collection of vehicles, including luxury models customized by renowned companies such as Brabus and Mansory, proudly displayed by their owners.
As you stroll through the marina, you'll constantly enjoy a festive atmosphere. Music plays from many of the yachts, creating a lively and entertaining environment. Photography enthusiasts will find countless opportunities for great shots.
We stayed in Málaga, in the La Malagueta district, at the Malaga Hotel Eliseos. We highly recommend it for its excellent value for money, swimming pool, parking facilities, and good breakfast (parking and breakfast are charged separately and are not included in the room rate).
You can reach Puerto Banús from Málaga by following the entire coastal route, but keep in mind that there are many traffic-calming zones (with speed limits of 30 km/h) and often heavy traffic. Allow approximately two hours for the journey, or combine parts of the coastal road with the A-7 motorway. Even then, the trip will rarely take less than 90 minutes.
Puerto Banús also offers ferry excursions along the coastline for those who wish to enjoy the Mediterranean from the sea.
